Week 46: Osso Bucco

For the bones challenge I chose osso buco which translates to "bone with a hole". I had heard of it before but had never tried it.

The first challenge was finding a place that sold beef shanks. I thought New Seasons would, but struck out. Then I found a cute meat market near my house called Wurst Market. They had a great selection and I definitely plan on going back!

All went well prepping until it came time to check for the meat being tender. I was already late getting the mashed potatoes prepped to go with the kids dinner as well (served along with Dino nuggets 🙄), so I don't think I let the meat braise long enough to be tender. The the kids ended up eating a total of a bite of mashed potatoes (who doesn't like mashed potatoes 🤯), so I could have let the meat braise longer. The sauce had a good flavor so I'm bummed the meat was too tough. The low rating is just because the hour and twenty minute cook time was not enough for the meat to be tender.
