Week 41: Beef Trinchado

This food challenge has taught me any type of recipe that braises meat in a sauce for an extended period of time is going to be amazing. This recipe says it is a Portuguese inspired South Africa beef stew that is believed to have been originated in Angola and Mozambique (both former Portuguese colonies).

This recipe was written with non US measurements so I always never really know if my conversions are going to be accurate. I am still ordering my groceries from Amazon instead of my usual Fred Meyer pick up because I think they are still in contract negotiations (yes, I know Amazon is not any better to their employee unions, I'm trying to pick the lesser of current evils while maintaining some sort of sanity) so I had to order like 4 8oz sirloin steaks to match the recipes 1 kilogram rump steak (what they hell is rump steak!). Amazon does not have a good variety of meat options. I also couldn't find "red chilies" on Amazon so I bought Serrano peppers, so we'll see how this turns out 😬.

This was an easy to prep. Mine turned out extra saucy in the end and I'm not sure if that was because of mis converting measurements. This turned out meh.  I'm going to assume that was because I did not convert measurements well because this had high reviews. I'm sure if I made it correctly it would taste good, so this one is on the cook 😔. I served it with fries (as suggested) but for leftover taking rolls to serve with it.
